Subject: “The circuit model of drug addiction: from molecular targets to compulsive behavior”
Summary: In my presentation, I will review the cellular mechanisms through which addictive drugs increase mesolimbic dopamine and how this then changes cortico-striatal glutamate transmission to impact on behavior. We will focus on the transition from controlled to compulsive drug seeking and taking. We will end with discussing blue prints for rational novel treatments of drug addiction.
