Subject: “Network development of the visual cortex”
Summary: The mammalian brain has a hierarchical and parallel neural network consisting of numerous areas. The brain can stably form this complex neural network structure during development with minimal individual differences. However, little is known about the developmental process of brain network structure, especially among cortical areas. In this seminar, Dr. Murakami will introduce the developmental strategy of cortical network in mouse visual system and discuss the importance of thalamocortical projections from lower- and higher-order thalamic nuclei in this process. Additionally, he will explore the role of higher-order thalamic nuclei in functional development of the higher-order visual cortex.
